ScienceandFood is developing science curricula that focus on farming and food. We will pilot the curriculum for students at John R. Wooden High School (JRWHS); in partnership with Kindred Spirits Care Farm, JRWHS creates educational opportunities for students through the farm from gardening to entrepreneurship to caring for rescued farm animals.
- Increase knowledge of science and its role in the world around us.
- Improve knowledge of food and cooking methods, with a focus on increasing familiarity of whole and fresh foods from the garden.
- Improve science proficiency and graduation rates for students at JRWHS.
- Create a high school curriculum that expands farm-based science curriculum for JRWHS and can be broadly adapted to other communities.
